UniRed is a free unicode plain text editor.

UniRed

Unired allows to use HTML-style presentation of Unicode symbols, like ř; also it allows using of «surrogates», i.e. instead of Unicode symbol in the file is a combination of letters (for example, in the file is ĉ, and you will see on the screen Unicode symbol ĉ).

Another important feature of UniRed is its syntax highlighting. It can emphasize syntax elements by colors and/or text styles. UniRed supports many program languages, including HTML, C/C++, Delphi, Java and others.

When your computer keeps crashing or  when you buy a used memory module you might want to check whether your computer’s memory is stable enough. You don’t need to remove memory modules from your motherboard slots, you just need to use the free open source memory failure detection utility called memtest86.

Memtest86

With memtest86, one can create a bootable CD, which when used, will boot and begin automatically to check all memory modules.

Many times, when we want to back up some documents, we are searching the whole filesystem of the windows drive in order to locate, folders like my documents, my pictures e.t.c. Some other times we end up with a full windows partition, with no free disk space, just because our documents, that reside in My documents take a lot of space (the physical position of my documents in a windows installation is : x:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents, where username is our  windows user name and x: is the drive of our windows installation).

A good idea, in order to avoid the above problems and to better organize our computers is  to change the default location of my documents folder and put it in a separate folder in a partition different from our windows installation.

In order to do this one can follow the following instructions coming from Microsoft’s web site:
